Francesco Salvi stars in new Saint Francis film premiering in Terni
The film ‘La leggenda dei tre compagni’, written and directed by Arnaldo Casali, is set to premiere at the Politeama Lucioli cinema in Terni on October 3. The production serves as a sequel to ‘La stella di Greccio’ and focuses on the final years of Saint Francis of Assisi.
Starring Francesco Salvi as an aging and ill Saint Francis, the film is told through the perspectives of his close companions, the friars Leone, Rufino, and Angelo. The narrative draws from Franciscan sources, specifically the ‘Compilazione di Assisi’, to depict events such as the composition of the Canticle of the Creatures and the stigmata at the Hermitage of Sant’Urbano in Narni.
The premiere is part of the ‘La valle della letizia’ event, supported by the Municipality of Terni and the Umbria Region, marking the 800th anniversary of the saint's death. As of now, no official theatrical release date or distributor has been announced.
