Francis Lawrence discusses Red Rising movie adaptation at Paramount

Red Rising Francis Lawrence Pierce Brown Paramount film adaptation

Director Francis Lawrence has provided updates on the upcoming film adaptation of Pierce Brown’s science fiction series, Red Rising. After being stalled for eight years, the project has moved from Netflix to Paramount.

Lawrence noted that the project was originally intended to be a series at Netflix, with two pilots already written. However, frequent leadership changes and shifting content priorities at the streaming platform prevented the project from moving forward. Following the reversion of rights to author Pierce Brown, the project has transitioned to Paramount, where Lawrence expressed a preference for a theatrical release over a streaming-only model.
