Franciscan Jubilee celebrations held in Ostra Vetere and Sant’Agnello

In Ostra Vetere, the Franciscan Jubilee year (1226‑2026) continues with a series of events in June and July. On 14 June the sanctuary of San Pasquale Baylon will host the Solemnity of Saint Anthony of Padua, including a liturgical hour at 18:30 and the traditional blessing and distribution of “St Anthony’s bread.” A concert by the group “Divivaluce” is scheduled for 28 June at 17:00, featuring music inspired by Saint Francis, and a major exhibition of artworks depicting the life of the saint will also open on 28 June, later traveling to nearby Ostra and a school in September.

In Sant’Agnello, the local Franciscan community marked the feast of Saint Anthony on 13 June with three masses in the morning, an evening rosary, and a Eucharist led by Don Emmanuel Miccio. The celebration included the distribution of blessed bread, a charity market, and hand‑embroidery stalls. That evening the “Panino Solidale” event transformed the convent into a communal space, with proceeds earmarked for missionary projects supported by the local Franciscan family. The convent was designated a “Jubilee Church,” offering plenary indulgences to visitors throughout the jubilee year.
