Franciscan Year 2026 commemorations in Milan and Lucera

The Opera San Francesco cultural program in Milan runs from October to December, marking the 800th anniversary of Saint Francis of Assisi’s death. The schedule features lectures, concerts, a film marathon, and community meals, with participants such as historian Alessandro Barbero, chef Cesare Battisti, and psychoanalyst Massimo Recalcati, among others.

In Lucera, the diocesan office has organized the exhibition “I segni del Serafico – Testimonianze e presenze nel nostro territorio,” opening on 13 August 2026 at the Palazzo Vescovile museum. The show displays paintings, statues, liturgical items and other artifacts from local Franciscan convents and private collections, highlighting the longstanding influence of the Franciscan orders in the region.
