Juventus and Atalanta chase free‑agent Franck Kessie as World Cup ends

Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie, 29, is set to become a free agent when his contract with Saudi club Al‑Ahli expires on 30 June. While focusing on the World Cup with the Ivory Coast, Kessie told La Gazzetta dello Sport that he would be “a great transfer” for Juventus and confirmed his agent is fielding many offers. Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti has listed Kessie among his top midfield targets, and the club is monitoring the situation closely.

Atalanta have also entered the race, seeking to reunite with the former player after his World Cup performances. Both Italian clubs are aware of Kessie’s salary expectations – around €4‑5 million per season, far below the €14 million he earns in Saudi Arabia. The midfielder’s Serie A record includes 41 goals and 16 assists in 204 matches, having previously played for Atalanta, Milan, and Barcelona. His agent reports a flood of inquiries as the transfer window approaches.

Kessie, captain of the Ivory Coast, said, “I am in good shape, I am a free player – what more could you want?” signalling openness to a move back to Italy after his stint in the desert.
