Alpine F1 Team confirms Franco Colapinto for 2027 season
Alpine F1 Team has officially confirmed that Argentine driver Franco Colapinto will remain a full-time driver for the 2027 Formula 1 season. The announcement, made via social media, ensures that Colapinto will continue his partnership with teammate Pierre Gasly.
The decision follows a period of significant growth for the 23-year-old driver. After joining Alpine as a reserve in 2025 and later replacing Jack Doohan, Colapinto has demonstrated consistent performance, contributing 19 points during the 2026 season and helping the team secure sixth place in the Constructors' Championship.
Alpine executive advisor Flavio Briatore praised Colapinto’s maturity and technical development, noting that his performances in Miami and Montreal confirmed his place in the sport. The team aims to maintain a stable driver lineup to focus on technical development and car performance. Colapinto expressed his satisfaction with the renewal, stating he feels “very happy and very established” within the Enstone-based structure.
