Franco Colapinto penalized at Spanish Grand Prix
Argentine driver Franco Colapinto originally finished eighth at the Barcelona Grand Prix but was handed a 10‑second time penalty by the FIA for insufficient speed reduction under a yellow‑flag sector. The penalty reclassified him to tenth place, leaving him with only one championship point.
The sanction was issued under article B1.8.4a of the Formula 1 sporting regulations and added a point to the driver’s Super Licence record. Alpine noted the penalty cost Colapinto a higher finishing position but still highlighted the team’s overall performance, with Pierre Gasly’s sixth place helping Alpine maintain fifth in the constructors’ standings. Lewis Hamilton won the race, securing his first victory for Ferrari and his 106th career win.
