Franco Colapinto scores point with 10th‑place finish at Belgian Grand Prix
Argentine Alpine driver Franco Colapinto qualified 13th after being eliminated in Q2 for the Spa‑Francorchamps round of the 2026 Formula 1 World Championship. Grid penalties to Lando Norris and Isack Hadjar moved him up to an 11th‑place start. During the race he climbed to eighth, defended the points‑scoring position and ultimately crossed the line in tenth, earning a championship point for Alpine.
Before the event Colapinto displayed a banner featuring Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona in the paddock and said he was more nervous about the upcoming 2026 World Cup final than the race itself. A post‑race interview with a Spanish journalist turned humorous when he joked about being asked for a story.
Other drivers faced difficulties: Carlos Sainz received a ten‑place grid drop after a battery‑unit replacement, and Williams described a frustrating weekend without points. The race was won by Andrea Kimi Antonelli, with Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen completing the podium.
