Franco Colapinto aims for comeback at 2026 Barcelona Grand Prix

Argentine driver Franco Colapinto, racing for Alpine, is set to recover from a 15th‑place finish in Monaco at the 2026 Formula 1 Grand Prix in Barcelona, Spain, on June 12‑14. The Spanish circuit – Barcelona‑Catalunya – is viewed as a key test of car performance, and Alpine used pre‑season testing there, giving Colapinto “much information” ahead of the weekend.

During Friday’s first free‑practice, Colapinto posted a best lap of 1:17.893, briefly ranking sixth before finishing the session in tenth overall. In the second practice session he was 15th, ahead of teammate Pierre Gasly, and in the final practice he improved to 15th again, showing consistent pace. He expressed confidence, saying “Me siento más cómodo con el auto.”

The weekend schedule (Argentina time) is: FP1 08:30, FP2 12:00 on Friday; FP3 07:30 on Saturday; Qualifying 11:00 Saturday; Race 10:00 Sunday. Championship leader Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) heads the drivers’ standings with 156 points, while Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and others chase.

Colapinto hopes the data gathered and the familiar circuit will help him move back into the points‑scoring positions at the Barcelona Grand Prix.
