Franco Colapinto penalized, drops to 10th in Barcelona GP

The FIA penalised Alpine’s Argentine driver Franco Colapinto after the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, adding a ten‑second time penalty for failing to sufficiently reduce speed under a yellow‑flag sector. The sanction moved him from eighth on the road to tenth in the final classification, costing him three points and leaving him with a single championship point. The stewards also issued a super‑licence penalty point, his second in the past twelve months. The penalty promoted Liam Lawson to eighth and Arvid Lindblad to ninth. Alpine’s team acknowledged the driver’s strong performance, noting his climb from a 13th‑place grid start to the points, but lamented the post‑race penalty. Lewis Hamilton won the race for Ferrari, marking his first victory with the team.
