Franco Colapinto and Alpine face reliability crisis after Singapore GP

Franco Colapinto and the Alpine F1 team faced a difficult weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix, marked by significant reliability issues. Colapinto was forced to retire from both the Sprint race and the main Grand Prix. The Sprint retirement was caused by problems with the energy storage system, while the main race ended due to a sudden transmission failure on lap 31.

Colapinto described the experience as the “worst triplet of my career,” following unsuccessful outings in Azerbaijan and Malaysia. The mechanical failures have raised concerns within Alpine regarding the reliability of the A526 model, as the team has now gone three consecutive races without scoring points. Alpine's sporting director, Steve Nielsen, confirmed the team will investigate the technical defects and plans to introduce new components to improve performance.

Despite the setbacks, Colapinto expressed a desire to “reset” and focus on the upcoming American leg of the season, which includes races in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. The team aims to resolve these technical issues before the Grand Prix in Austin.
