Franco Colapinto scores career-best sixth place at Canadian Grand Prix
Alpine driver Franco Colapinto finished sixth at the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, achieving his best Formula 1 result and the highest placement for an Argentine driver in decades.
Starting from tenth on the grid, Colapinto advanced after early retirements of George Russell and Arvid Lindblad and capitalized on a McLaren strategy error. He later benefited from a penalty to Isack Hadjar, moving into sixth. A brief off‑track excursion under the Virtual Safety Car saw him brush the wall after exiting the pits with cold tires, but the car sustained no damage and he retained his position.
Alpine secured fifth in the constructors' championship, with teammate Pierre Gasly finishing eighth. The race was won by Mercedes rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli, while Lewis Hamilton took second and Max Verstappen third. Other notable incidents included retirements for Lando Norris and Sergio Pérez.
