Franco Colapinto seeks early contract resolution with Alpine F1
Argentine driver Franco Colapinto, who races for the Alpine Formula 1 team, is awaiting formal talks about his contract, which expires at the end of the season. He told the press he hopes not to wait until the season’s final race to know his future and emphasized he is focused on delivering points race by race.
Colapinto has performed well in the first half of the year, scoring points in China, Miami, Canada, Britain and most recently at Spa‑Francorchamps, placing him twelfth in the drivers’ standings tied with Ollie Bearman on 18 points. He highlighted car handling issues, such as a floor problem at Silverstone, but noted he managed to recover and overtake ten cars during the race.
Alpine has not yet made any official decision on extending his deal, and the team remains focused on improving the car’s competitiveness in a tightly contested midfield.
