Franco Colapinto's Alpine future uncertain, says Flavio Briatore

Flavio Briatore, senior advisor at the Alpine Formula 1 team, said the Argentine rookie Franco Colapinto has shown talent and a significant performance boost, but his place for the 2027 season remains undecided. He noted that the team will closely evaluate Colapinto’s adaptation, speed and consistency before making any commitment, emphasizing that Alpine is undergoing a broader strategic review.

Briatore also praised Pierre Gasly as one of the sport’s top six drivers and mentioned that while rumors of Fernando Alonso’s possible return to Alpine exist, it is not a current priority. He highlighted Alpine’s focus on winning, substantial investment in its Enstone facility and new engines, and the need for a clear driver line‑up to compete for championships.
