Frank Grillo defends Rick Flag Sr. against DCU fan backlash

Actor Frank Grillo has responded to reports that his character, Rick Flag Sr., has become one of the most hated figures in the DC Universe (DCU). During an interview, Grillo expressed surprise at the character's unpopularity and defended the motivations behind Flag Sr.'s actions.

Grillo argued that the character's hostility toward Christopher Smith, also known as Peacemaker, is justified because Peacemaker killed Flag Sr.'s son, Rick Flag Jr., during the events of 'The Suicide Squad'. When asked to consider that Peacemaker is attempting to redeem himself, Grillo dismissed the notion, stating, “Peacemaker killed my son! Let me help you here. He murdered my son, my child.”

The conflict between the two characters serves as a central plot point in the second season of 'Peacemaker', driven by Flag Sr.'s grief and pursuit of revenge.
