Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. role in DC Universe

Overview

Actor Frank Grillo has discussed the role of his character, Rick Flag Sr., within the DC Universe. Grillo indicated that the character will play an “integral part” in the upcoming film ‘Man of Tomorrow’ and suggested the character’s arc may continue beyond that project.

Following reports of fan backlash regarding the character’s popularity, Grillo defended Rick Flag Sr.’s motivations. He noted that the character’s hostility toward Peacemaker is driven by the fact that Peacemaker killed Flag Sr.’s son, Rick Flag Jr. Grillo emphasized the character’s grief, stating, “Peacemaker killed my son! Let me help you here. He murdered my son, my child.” This conflict is a central plot point in the second season of ‘Peacemaker’ much as it relates to the broader DCU narrative.
