Frank Løke Hospitalized with Rhabdomyolysis After 700 km Finnmark Bike Race

Norwegian endurance athlete Frank Løke was admitted to Hammerfest Hospital on Saturday after completing the 700‑kilometre Offroad Finnmark mountain‑bike race in 158 hours. Medical staff are testing him for rhabdomyolysis, a condition caused by severe muscle breakdown that can lead to kidney failure. Løke described the effort as “brutal” and said his legs were swollen and hard. He finished the race in sixth place together with teammate Markus Lillemoen, after a grueling stretch where he was forced to stand for the last 20 hours. Løke, who has previously summited K2 without oxygen and climbed Mount Everest, said the experience was the toughest of his career but worth the effort. He is awaiting test results while remaining under observation.
