Frank Zappa’s ‘Freak Out!’ receives 60th anniversary Super Deluxe Edition

Frank Zappa Freak Out! The Mothers of Invention 60th Anniversary Edition Super Deluxe Edition

Zappa Records and Universal Music (UMe) are releasing a 60th anniversary Super Deluxe Edition of Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention’s 1966 debut album, ‘Freak Out!’.

The centerpiece of the release is a 5CD/1Blu-ray Audio Super Deluxe Edition featuring 105 tracks, including previously unreleased demos, rehearsals, outtakes, and live recordings from 1966 at San Francisco’s Fillmore Auditorium. The collection notably includes a remastered version of the original mono mix, reconstructed from surviving single-release tapes and a pristine original pressing, as well as a newly unearthed “pre-master” stereo mix sourced from a collector.

Additional formats for the anniversary release include digital versions, a 5LP set, and a 2LP highlights version. The physical box set will also include a lithograph and a 26-page booklet containing archival photos and a reproduction of the original ‘Freak Out! Hot Spots Map’.
