Franke und Bornberg 2026 insurance rating shows rising quality

The 2026 Franke und Bornberg private liability insurance rating indicates an overall improvement in market quality, characterized by a decrease in low-rated insurance plans. In the single-person segment, the proportion of tariffs receiving the lowest ratings (F+ or worse) fell from 14.3 percent to 10.9 percent.

Despite this improvement, high-quality coverage remains relatively rare. Only 17.1 percent of the 293 single-person tariffs analyzed achieved the highest rating of ‘FFF+ hervorragend’, up slightly from 15.3 percent the previous year. Significant differences in quality persist across the market, particularly regarding specific conditions such as drone coverage, professional key usage, and bad debt protection.

The rating methodology remains unchanged from 2025, utilizing a consistent set of criteria and weightings to allow for year-over-year comparisons. For family-oriented tariffs, 17.6 percent achieved the top rating, compared to 15.8 percent in the prior year.
