Franke und Bornberg 2026 insurance ratings
Overview
Franke und Bornberg has released its 2026 insurance ratings for the German market, covering both private liability and accident insurance.
The private liability insurance rating indicates an improvement in market quality, with a decrease in low-rated plans. In the single-person segment, the proportion of tariffs receiving the lowest ratings fell from 14.3 percent to 10.9 percent. However, high-quality coverage remains limited; only 17.1 percent of single-person tariffs achieved the highest rating of ‘FFF+ hervorragend’, while 17.6 percent of family-oriented tariffs reached the top grade.
Regarding accident insurance, the 2026 rating shows that 13.9 percent of the 474 analyzed tariffs achieved the highest grade of FFF+. While the total number of insurers and tariffs evaluated decreased compared to the previous year, more insurers reached the top tier. For this assessment, the methodology was updated to increase precision, expanding the investigation from 18 to 19 areas and from 62 to 66 detailed criteria.
