Frankfurt aid warehouse destroyed in suspected arson attack

A fire at the “Frankfurt for Ukraine” aid warehouse in the Dornbusch district of Frankfurt am Main has destroyed significant humanitarian supplies intended for people and rescue workers in Ukraine. The destroyed items included medical aids such as wheelchairs, walkers, and crutches, as well as clothing and wood stoves.

Police are investigating the incident as arson, and state security authorities have been involved due to the possibility of a political motive. Over 300 emergency responders worked for approximately 19 hours to combat the blaze.

The fire has also impacted local education, as the warehouse is located on the grounds of two schools. While electricity has been restored, damage to water, heating, and power lines has caused water supply leaks. The Anne-Frank-Schule is expected to resume classes after the autumn break, while the Viktor-Frankl-Schule may not be able to use its classrooms until Wednesday.
