Frankfurt arson attack on Ukraine aid warehouse
Overview
An arson attack at the Viktor-Frankl-Schule in the Dornbusch district of Frankfurt destroyed a temporary storage facility used by the ‘Frankfurt for Ukraine’ initiative. The fire, which required approximately 19 hours for over 300 emergency responders to extinguish, destroyed roughly 20 pallets of humanitarian supplies.
Items lost included medical equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, and crutches, as well as supplies for hospitals, orphanages, and emergency responders. The shipment also contained items intended to help civilians manage energy shortages and cold weather, including clothing and wood stoves.
Frankfurt police and the State Security Commissioner are investigating the incident to determine if the fire was politically motivated. The blaze also caused damage to water, heating, and power lines on the school grounds, impacting local educational facilities.
