Frankfurt am Main undergoes municipal government restructuring

The city of Frankfurt am Main has undergone significant administrative changes following recent elections. The city held a reception to honor district chairpersons and their deputies for their voluntary service over the past five years. Mayor Mike Josef described these officials as essential intermediaries between the city government and the citizens, noting that their role is a unique feature of Frankfurt’s municipal structure.

Simultaneously, the city's executive body, the Magistrat, has been restructured. Following the election of new members, the political composition of the twelve-member council has shifted, with the CDU returning to responsibility and the FDP no longer holding full-time positions. Organizational changes include the dissolution of the independent Department for Diversity, Anti-Discrimination, and Social Cohesion, with its duties being integrated into the Department for the Environment. Additionally, the Department for Building will become an independent entity again, separating from the Department for Education.
