Frankfurt emergency services conduct large-scale disaster drill
Approximately 370 emergency responders participated in the ‘Frankopia’ disaster preparedness exercise in Frankfurt. The drill simulated a complex emergency scenario involving a drone attack on freight traffic near Hanauer Landstraße and the Hafenbahn railway works.
The exercise included a simulated ‘second hit’ involving a second wave of attacks and heavy smoke to test the coordination between the fire department, the Technical Relief Agency (THW), and medical rescue services. Participants worked to extinguish fires, treat simulated casualties, and rescue individuals from a fictional disco.
Observers included Martin Rößler, State Secretary in the Hessian Ministry of the Interior, and City Security Commissioner Martin-Benedikt Schäfer. A civil protection delegation from Ukraine was also in attendance to observe the proceedings.
