François Hollande outlines 2027 presidential vision in new book

Former French President François Hollande has released a new book, ‘Unir. Nouveau monde, nouvelle gauche’ (published by Robert Laffont), which outlines a reformist vision for the country and serves as a potential political manifesto. The 300-page work contains approximately 80 proposals, including ideas to modulate VAT rates and setting the legal retirement age at 63, a position that diverges from some traditional Socialist Party stances.

While Hollande has not officially declared his candidacy for the 2027 presidential election, he has stated, ‘If I launch myself, it will be at the right time,’ and indicated he will make a final decision in December. He has also confirmed that he is effectively ‘already in campaign’ by presenting these policy ideas. Hollande has expressed his intention to bypass the Socialist Party primaries, aiming instead to unite French citizens and appeal to voters across the political spectrum, including the center-right.
