Two days later Hollande gathered roughly 160 political figures, emphasizing ecological transition, AI, demographics and social cohesion, and deliberately avoiding the primary. Analysts highlighted his foreign‑policy experience; critics pointed to his mixed presidential legacy and the fragmented left. On 19 July the Ecologist party unveiled a programme for a “First Ecological and Citizen Republic,” proposing green fiscal measures and a restructuring of transport taxation, while internal divisions linger after recent municipal defeats. On 30 July former prime minister Bernard Cazeneuve announced his objective to become president in 2027, presenting an 86‑page programme that proposes a revamp of public services, a social gold rule and tighter deficit control.
