François Hollande positions himself for 2027 French presidential election

Former French President François Hollande is positioning himself as a potential fallback candidate for the left in the 2027 presidential election. While not officially launching a campaign, his supporters are actively promoting his political legacy.

To mark his 72nd birthday, a group of long-time supporters distributed 500 pop-art style posters across France and abroad. These posters highlight achievements from his presidency, such as the retirement of 650,000 citizens and tax exemptions for 8 million of the most disadvantaged French people. Although Hollande was not personally involved in the poster initiative, his entourage indicates he appreciated the gesture.

Hollande is preparing a busy political schedule, including attending the Socialist Party (PS) summer campus in Blois and participating in a debate with Édouard Philippe. He is also set to release a new book on September 3 titled ‘Unir. Nouveau monde, nouvelle gauche’ (Unite. New world, new left), which will outline his vision for France over the next decade and his reflections on the future of the left.
