Franziska Brantner sets conditions for Berlin coalition talks

Franziska Brantner, co-chair of the Green Party, has set strict conditions for potential coalition negotiations with the Left Party (Die Linke) in Berlin. Brantner stated that no government can be formed if it is supported or influenced by individuals associated with antisemitism, organized crime, or Islamism.

Following the Left Party's decision to enter exploratory talks with the SPD and the Greens, Brantner emphasized that acknowledging the right of Israel to exist and designating Hamas as a terrorist organization must be the foundation of any potential government. She noted that while she welcomes recent admissions of error by Left Party leaders, further action is required.

Brantner also expressed significant reservations regarding the distribution of ministerial posts in a potential red-green-red Senate. She indicated it would be difficult to envision the Left Party holding the Interior or Justice ministries if members maintain connections to extremist groups such as the PFLP or Hamas.
