Fratelli d'Italia pushes for PNRR project review and blocks IRPEF surcharge increase in Italian towns

In Prato, the Fratelli d’Italia councilor Gianluca Banchelli submitted a formal interrogation to the mayor demanding a detailed report on the status of all construction projects funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). The request highlighted the stalled swimming‑pool project, warned of potential loss of EU funds, and called for monitoring sheets showing description, financing, progress, timeline and corrective actions for each intervention.

In the southern town of Canosa, the Fratelli d’Italia group presented an agenda item to the municipal council asking the regional authority in Puglia to suspend a planned increase to the regional IRPEF surcharge. The party criticised opposition votes for supporting the hike, argued that families and pensioners are already burdened by rising living costs and an inefficient health system, and urged that waste reduction and health‑service improvements should precede any new taxes.
