Fratelli d’Italia to protest eviction of Reggio Emilia social centre Aq16

Representatives of the governing Fratelli d’Italia party plan to hold a demonstration in front of the Aq16 social centre in Reggio Emilia on 20 July, demanding that the municipality evict the occupants, whom they label as illegal. The party says the building is unsafe and that the protest is meant to seek “legality and transparency” from local authorities.

The centre’s activists have announced a counter‑presence, warning that they will not allow what they describe as “post‑fascist” forces to approach the site. Trade union CGIL and the ANPI veterans’ association have voiced solidarity with the occupants, stressing the centre’s role in solidarity, hospitality and protection of vulnerable people. The Democratic Party has called for the issue to be debated in the municipal council rather than through street actions.
