Freddy Peralta named American League Pitcher of the Month

Freddy Peralta has been named the American League Pitcher of the Month for September following his acquisition by the Tampa Bay Rays. After a difficult tenure with the New York Mets, Peralta recorded a 4-0 record with a 0.96 ERA across five starts.

Technical adjustments have contributed to his resurgence. Since joining the Rays, Peralta has increased his arm angle to approximately 36 degrees and extended his release point to about 6.7 feet. These changes have resulted in a velocity increase of 2-3 mph on all pitches. Additionally, scouts note a significant shift in pitch usage, specifically a heavier reliance on his changeup compared to his previous season averages.
