MLB Trade Deadline: Mets Scratch Peralta, Yankees Deal Doval to Pirates

The New York Mets removed right‑hander Freddy Peralta from his scheduled start on July 31, 2026, a move interpreted as a signal that a trade is imminent before the August 3 deadline. The Mets are reportedly seeking a top‑100 prospect and additional assets in return, with interest reported from the Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays, Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers and other clubs. Peralta has posted a 4.99 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP in 22 starts for New York this season.

Separately, the New York Yankees traded former All‑Star reliever Camilo Doval to the Pittsburgh Pirates. In exchange, the Yankees received catching prospect Omar Alfonzo and outfield prospect Luis Cruz, along with cash considerations. Doval finished the 2026 season with a 3‑1 record, a 4.54 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP in 44 appearances for the Yankees. The deal was announced on August 1, 2026, two days before the trade deadline, as the Pirates look to bolster a struggling bullpen.
