Freddy Peralta wins ALCS MVP following trade from Mets to Rays
Freddy Peralta has been named the American League Championship Series (ALCS) MVP after a dominant postseason performance with the Tampa Bay Rays. Peralta, who was acquired by the Rays from the New York Mets at the trade deadline, pitched 12 innings of one-run ball across three appearances against the Cleveland Guardians to help secure the AL Pennant.
Peralta’s resurgence follows a difficult tenure with the Mets, where he posted a 4.99 ERA in 22 starts before being traded. Since joining Tampa Bay, he has significantly improved his production, recording a 2.26 ERA in his final nine regular-season starts and a 0.79 ERA in his final six. His performance has positioned the Rays for a World Series matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers.
The success of Peralta also highlights past roster decisions for the Seattle Mariners, who previously held both Peralta and NLCS MVP Jake Bauers in their organization. Peralta was originally traded by Seattle to Milwaukee in 2015 as part of a deal for Adam Lind.
