Frederick II heritage projects debut in Lucera and Palazzo San Gervasio

On 7 August 2026, the Archeoclub d'Italia APS in Lucera opened the Torneo delle Chiavi with a presentation titled “Dal Palatium di Federico II al Polo Museale Stupor Mundi”. The event introduced a restoration and conversion project for the medieval Palatium, aiming to create a future museum dedicated to Frederick II. Engineers and architects Salvatore Fabio de Vita, Michele Zolli and Pasqualina Casiero outlined the planned conservation, re‑functionalisation and new exhibition spaces. Local officials including Mayor Giuseppe Pitta, regional councilor Antonio Tutolo and Archeoclub president Walter di Pierro attended.

The same day, the Domus Federiciana at Palazzo San Gervasio hosted a cultural conference “Numeri e filosofia”, exploring medieval architecture, the golden ratio and the philosophical legacy of Manfredi di Svevia, son of Frederick II. Speakers highlighted the geometric design of the Norman‑Swabian fortress and Manfredi’s translation of the Arabic “Liber de Pomo”. The event was opened by Mayor Luca Festino and other institutional representatives.
