Free animal sterilization and vaccination drives launched in Formosa and Tucumán, Argentina

The municipal government of Formosa, Argentina, carried out a free health operation in the Malvinas Argentinas neighbourhood. The Directorate of Zoonosis and Animal Protection offered sterilisation, mandatory annual rabies vaccination, deworming and veterinary care to companion animals, and provided a breakfast for residents. Officials stressed that the rabies vaccine is required for travel and that parasite control protects both animals and people.

In Tucumán, the municipal Animal Population Directorate will operate two mobile clinics in the Sarmiento and Villa 9 de Julio districts from 29 June to 3 July. The free service will sterilise dogs and cats, with requirements such as a 12‑hour fast, a blanket for post‑surgery warmth and appropriate transport cages. Both campaigns are part of municipal policies to promote responsible pet ownership and public health.
