Free Brazilian Film Screenings Held in Matinhos and Juiz de Fora

In Matinhos, Paraná, the Cineclube Currais presented a free evening of two short documentaries – “É linda! Quero te proteger” and “Maré Cinza” – at the Escola Municipal Pastor Elias Abrahão. The films, directed by Gabriel Marchi, highlight the conservation challenges of the Southern Right Whale and the Amazon river dolphin. After the screenings, Marchi led a discussion with the audience, and a free cinema workshop for beginners was scheduled for 20 June at the local high school.

Separately, Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais hosted a complimentary showing of the acclaimed feature “Marte Um” at Cinema Alameda. The event was part of the Tela Brasileira initiative, which seeks to broaden public access to Brazilian cinema. The film, directed by Gabriel Martins, follows a Black working‑class family navigating everyday struggles and aspirations, and it has earned multiple national awards and international festival recognition.
