Kielce hosts free Chopin concert series in historic Italian garden

The fourth concert of the "Chopinowskie Inspiracje" series took place on 1 August 2026 in the Italian garden of the former Palace of the Krakow Bishops in Kielce, Poland. Pianist Krzysztof Książek performed Chopin mazurkas and ballades, describing the repertoire as showcasing the composer’s early light mazurkas, a salon‑style waltz, and a later, mature ballade. In the second half he performed a piano duet with his wife Agnieszka Zahaczewska‑Książek, playing Schubert’s Fantasy and Mendelssohn’s "Overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream". Admission was free; tickets could be collected at the National Museum in Kielce. If weather forced a move indoors, the concert would be limited to 130 seats. The audience praised both the music and the setting, noting the unique atmosphere of the historic garden. A next concert is scheduled for 8 August, featuring pianist Andrzej Wierciński.
