Free Veracruz Fandango Festival Set for July 31
The city of Veracruz will host a free "Tarde de Fandango" on Friday, July 31, organized by promoter Adrian Flores. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. at the historic Las Atarazanas building, adjacent to the Instituto Veracruzano de la Cultura, the Naval Museum and a local high school, and is expected to run for four to six hours.
The celebration highlights the three pillars of the fandango: the tarima (stage), traditional string music played on jaranas, and versadores (singers). Up to 60 jaraneros may gather, starting with an opening group (“telonero”) before joining for a collective performance. The festival aims to preserve the tradition and provide a social space for locals and tourists.
