Freedom Flotilla announces maritime mission to Gaza for October
The Freedom Flotilla Coalition has announced a new international maritime mission to the Gaza Strip, scheduled to arrive in October. The coalition aims to challenge Israel’s blockade of the enclave and mobilize public pressure across Europe to halt weapons shipments and diplomatic cooperation with Israel.
The mission involves various participants, including human rights advocates, journalists, medical professionals, and elected representatives. The coalition stated that the voyage is intended to denounce what they describe as “the complicity of the international community” regarding the situation in Palestine.
Several vessels are already involved in the journey. The Handala II has visited ports in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark, while the Kate departed from Bristol, UK, making stops in Ireland, Germany, and France. The fleet is expected to visit ports in Spain, Portugal, and Italy before proceeding toward Gaza. Activists have noted they are prepared to face risks of detention and violence during the expedition.
