Freedom Flotilla Coalition to launch Gaza blockade challenge in October

The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) has announced plans to launch a new maritime expedition in October to challenge the Israeli naval blockade of the Gaza Strip. The coalition stated that previous actions by Israeli authorities have not deterred their mission to deliver solidarity and aid to the enclave.

The flotilla is expected to depart from various European ports, with scheduled stops in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Germany, and France. Specific vessels involved in the preparations include the Handala II, which has recently visited Scandinavian ports, and the Kate, which has traveled through Ireland and is moving toward mainland Europe.

This mission follows a May attempt in which Israeli forces intercepted approximately 50 boats in international waters, resulting in the detention of 430 activists. During that incident, participants reported various forms of abuse and mistreatment while in custody. The FFC aims to continue its efforts to advocate for the dignity and freedom of Palestinians despite the significant risks associated with the journey.
