Freiberg Mayor Philipp Preißler involved in Leipzig police intervention

Philipp Preißler, the Mayor of Freiberg, has been implicated in a police intervention at a hotel in Leipzig. The incident occurred on a Thursday afternoon when a man was reported to be ransacking a hotel room and throwing objects out of a window.

According to the Leipzig Police Directorate, the individual resisted arrest and caused minor injuries to two police officers during the operation. The suspect was subsequently taken to a hospital. Investigations are currently underway regarding property damage and resistance against law enforcement officers.

A spokesperson for the city of Freiberg confirmed Preißler's involvement in the incident. It was noted that the mayor was in Leipzig on a private vacation at the time. The Freiberg city administration expressed shock and bewilderment regarding the events, though they could not provide further details. Preißler, a member of the Freie Wähler party, only officially assumed office in late June following delays caused by legal challenges to his election.
