Freight traffic rerouted via Dorpsstraat during Assendelft railway crossing closure
From 18 July to 8 August the Korte Industrieweg railway crossing in Assendelft will be closed to all motorised traffic. The province of Noord‑Holland has approved a temporary diversion, allowing freight vehicles to use Dorpsstraat, a street normally prohibited for such traffic.
Initial plans to route trucks along Ambachtslaan, Saendelverlaan and Rosariumlaan faced criticism from residents who said the streets were too narrow. Provincial officials acknowledged the solution is not ideal but the only viable option. Companies on the Assendelft industrial estate will receive letters this week and the diversion will be signed with temporary road signs.
