French 2027 presidential election poll shows Bardella ahead, Philippe second
Two recent opinion polls reveal shifting dynamics ahead of France's 2027 presidential election. A Verian survey commissioned by L’Hémicycle found that 56 % of French voters now consider a candidate’s closeness to everyday life the most important quality, while only 8 % prioritize traditional political experience. The poll also highlighted widespread distrust of elites, with 64 % lacking confidence in current leaders.
In a separate IFOP‑Fiducial poll reported by Le Figaro, Jordan Bardella of the Rassemblement National leads the first‑round vote intentions at 35‑37 %, surpassing his party’s leader Marine Le Pen. Former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe holds the second position with 19‑21 % support, ahead of Gabriel Attal (15 %). Other candidates, including Bruno Retailleau and Éric Zemmour, trail significantly. The surveys suggest a voter appetite for candidates perceived as rooted in “the ground” and a possible reshaping of the traditional political landscape.
