French cinemas see record summer attendance

French cinemas are experiencing an exceptional summer, with attendance reaching record levels. Since July 1, theaters in France have averaged 640,000 entries per day, occasionally surpassing one million entries in a single day.

According to the Fédération nationale des cinémas français (FNCF), the week of July 29 to August 4 saw a record 6.4 million admissions, a summer high not seen in 25 years. This surge is attributed to both high-profile film releases and the heatwave, as many movie theaters offer air-conditioned environments.

Major drivers of this attendance include Christopher Nolan’s ‘L’Odyssée’, which has drawn 5.7 million viewers since its July 15 release, and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, which attracted 5.1 million viewers in two weeks. French productions are also contributing to the seasonal success.
