French gendarmes report major speeding violations in Haute-Vienne and Rhône

Law enforcement agencies in France have reported significant speeding violations during recent traffic operations. In Haute-Vienne, gendarmes recorded 42 infractions over the August 15 weekend, including 29 instances of speeding. Notable offenses included a motorcyclist traveling at 199 km/h in a 90 km/h zone on the D979, resulting in the seizure of the vehicle. Other high-speed violations were recorded on the D920, N141, and A20.

In the Rhône department, patrols near Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport identified approximately 15 vehicles exceeding speed limits by more than 30 km/h. Two major violations were highlighted: a driver recorded at 176 km/h in a 90 km/h zone and another in an SUV clocked at 188 km/h in a 90 km/h zone. Both drivers faced license suspensions and vehicle impoundment, with potential fines of 3,750 euros and possible prison sentences.
