French government aims to finish end‑of‑life legislation review before summer

Minister for Relations with Parliament Laurent Panifous reaffirmed that the French government intends to complete the parliamentary examination of the end‑of‑life (euthanasia) bill before the summer break. The executive seeks to place the proposal on the Assembly’s agenda in June‑July, alongside other priority bills such as the constitutional reform for Corsica and the public order law. Panifous indicated the goal is for the National Assembly to work through the first three weeks of July, and possibly the week of 20 July, pending the President’s decision on an extraordinary session and the Senate’s schedule.

If the timeline is met, the bill – which has been rejected by the Senate – could be brought to a final vote in the Assembly before the summer recess.
