French Hermes Quartet performs at North Macedonia's Ohrid Summer Festival

The French chamber group Hermes Quartet gave a concert as part of the traditional French Evening at the 66th Ohrid Summer Festival in the Church of St. Sofia, Ohrid. The performance was supported by the French Embassy in North Macedonia and the French Institute in Skopje and featured violinists Omer Bushe and Elise Liu, violist Liu Yung Hsin Chang and cellist Jan Levinoa. The ensemble received a long standing ovation from the audience, and Macedonian President Gordana Siljanovska‑Davkova, patron of the festival, attended the event. After the concert the quartet departed for France to continue a summer tour of concerts across Europe.

The quartet, founded in 2008 at the Lyon Conservatory, is known for its collaborations with major artists and its recordings, including the 2026 album “Echo of Vienna.” Their appearance in Ohrid highlights cultural ties between France and North Macedonia.
