French Ligue 1 referee Abdelatif Kherradji to stand trial for domestic violence

Ligue 1 referee Abdelatif Kherradji is scheduled to appear before the tribunal judiciaire in Nîmes on 7 August for alleged domestic‑violence offences against his ex‑partner. Prosecutors say the incidents began on 13 March, when the referee allegedly grabbed his partner by the neck and hair, and recurred on 13 May, involving forceful pulling and pushing against a wall, after which the woman received a three‑day medical leave. Kherradji has claimed the violence was reciprocal and is reported to have filed a complaint against his former partner, though the claim has not been confirmed. His lawyer has declined to comment, emphasizing the presumption of innocence. The French Football Federation has said it has no official information on the case and will respond if required. A national helpline (3919) for women victims of violence is available 24/7.
