French mobile plans see 11% price hike and data shrinkflation

Small mobile data plans in France have seen an 11.3% price increase over the past year, according to a Selectra barometer. In contrast, larger plans offering 100 GB or more have remained stable, showing a slight decrease of 0.3%.

Beyond direct price hikes, the market is experiencing ‘shrinkflation,’ where consumers receive less data for the same or higher prices. For example, a 6-euro monthly budget that provided 40 GB in October 2025 now only yields 5 GB. Selectra noted that 13 out of 87 surveyed plans now offer less data for equal or higher costs.

As major operators like Orange, SFR, Sosh, and RED by SFR implement price increases, alternative providers like YouPrice offer lower-cost options on the Orange network. For instance, a 30 GB plan via YouPrice costs approximately 7.99 euros per month, compared to 17.99 euros for a similar Orange plan, potentially saving users over 100 euros annually.
