Muslims in France consider emigration if Marine Le Pen wins 2027 election

An Ifop survey conducted for Marianne magazine reveals significant social tension in France ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The poll indicates that 46% of Muslims living in France would consider emigrating if Marine Le Pen, leader of the Rassemblement National (RN), wins the presidency. Additionally, 20% of Muslim respondents stated they would certainly leave the country.

The survey highlights deep-seated fears within the community, with 81% of Muslim respondents believing a Le Pen victory would lead to increased discrimination and aggression. Furthermore, 27% of those surveyed indicated they might hide their religious identity in daily life. The inclination to emigrate is also notable among other groups, with 44% of Jewish respondents and 43% of Jean-Luc Mélenchon voters expressing similar sentiments.

In response to these findings, Marine Le Pen has stated that Islam is compatible with the values of the French Republic and that Muslims are French citizens who should not fear her leadership. However, she maintains a hardline stance against what she terms “Islamist ideologies,” proposing a referendum to potentially ban the Islamic headscarf in public spaces. She emphasized that while religious practice is respected, Sharia law and fundamentalism remain incompatible with the Republic.
